In With the New!

Greetings all!

It has been a while since the last post in the Gargoyle Gateway, and for that I extend my apologies!! As the new librarian, jumping right into the swing of things at the beginning of last semester was a great way to get to know the Uni community, but not a great way to keep up with social media. But we are back in full swing, so check back here for more updates as the semester goes on to see what's happening in your local dragon's lair. Also, check out our Instagram (follow unihighlibrary) and our Twitter (@UniHighLibrary) for some of the cool stuff we will be posting there.

Here is the newsletter for January!

An Agora Unleashed Kind of Week

This week we've had the honor of hosting not one, but two Agora Unleashed sessions. From Umar's Uni Period discussion on anti-heroes and why we love them to today's lunchtime talk on Marfan Syndrome, led by the fabulous Kat, we've been busy educating AND entertaining!

Umar examines the modern day anti-hero generally...

And Deadpool in particular.

It's Marfan Awareness Month, and Kat has the scoop!

Thanks for the insights, Kat!

This Place Has Everything!

From leisure reading to quiet study to active learning to games day (whew!), the Uni High Library has it all!

Harry Potter Uno is magical!

Connect Four connects friends.
Look at that intense approach to Guess Who!
Hard at work in the semi-quiet group study room.
Ah, the perpetual question: How many Uni students can fit on a chair?
Finding out who'll be sorry.
Freshman History brainstorming.
Hard at work exploring the Pax Romana.
Merging markers and digital devices with style.
Marker boards, digital aids, collaboration-- look at that active learning!

Quiet study spaces rock (but not, if you know what I mean).
Finding some peace and quiet in the Monastery (aka the silent study space).

It's Beginning To Look a Lot Like Finals

Finals have set in, and so has the studying. To counter the stress, the library has provided a relaxation station where students can color, assemble a puzzle, or get crafty with construction paper, all with a tranquil beach scene in the background. From A to Zen, the library has it all!

Freshmen fervently studying.
Must. Learn.
Library=Paradise. No surprise there!
Choosing a crayon color is easier than a Physics final, amirite?
Fun with paper crafts!
Zen coloring sheets work their magic.
Doesn't Molly look zen-ed out?
